It defines e-learning in terms of teaching, and points out the specifics of its development in the Czech learning environment from programmed learning to on-line education. It analyzes the approach of teaching in terms of e-learning use, emphasizes the constructivist approach to learning management, and highlights the new role of the teacher-tutor in it. The author also deals with the international experience in this field, as well as the difficulties and challenges of e-learning in secondary education, but also points at the possibility of its application and suggests prospects for the future development in this field. At the same time the author appeals to the need for research in this field focusing on the teaching experience.
