At first, the author describes important specifics of mentor work considering the professional development models and their process approaches that reflect paradigmatic plurality of the area. The author reproduces typologies of other authors dealing with this topic (Doyle, Schön, Shulman, Kolb and Korthagen). The second part of the article specifies the mentoring approach as a reflective process by comparison with another forms of practical teachers peer support - coaching and supervision. In the third part of the article, the author publishes the essential description and internal mentor work principles, defines particular aspects of mentor's educational work and describes the mentor-mentee relationship dynamics, which is specific for 'Pomáháme školám k úspěchu' project.
